Adeyi and Kemp crowned at 2026 County Closed
140 matches, 100+ players and two Ladies grades for the first time as Club Towers hosts a bumper County Closed.
After 140 matches involving over 100 players across four days, Bedfordshire’s latest squash champions have been crowned at Club Towers.
For the first time ever there were two Ladies grades, alongside Open A, B and C grades, an Over 55s tournament and plate competitions for first-round losers.
Open A Grade
Top seed Gbenga Adeyi won his fourth straight A Grade title, beating Club Towers’ Steve Davies 11-6, 11-5, 11-9 in the final. Davies had earlier upset club-mate and last year’s finalist Ben Mann in the semi-final.
Ladies A Grade
Two thrilling five-game semi-finals set up the final. Rachael Hamp edged Jolanta Hawryluk 12-10 in the fifth, while Ashleigh Kemp upset second seed Sophie Cable 11-9 in the decider. An injury to Hamp in the final handed Kemp her first county title.
